The Social Security Death Index maintained on the website is represents the Death Master File from the Social Security Administration. Currently containing more than 89 million records, the file is continually updated to reflect the latest information. Obtaining Porter County Death Certificates

The Porter County Health Department maintains death certificates from 1884 to present. Photographic identification is required to obtain a death certificate. A copy of your driver's license or a state-issued photograph identification card bearing your signature will be accepted. Copies of certified death certificates can be obtained for $7.00, while the genealogy-related search fee is $2.00.
