Ellen E. Woelfer

DIED.
WOELFER. -- Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1875, Mrs. Ellen E. Woelfer, wife of H. P. Woelfer, station at this place for the Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne and Chicago Railway Company, aged 23 years.

Deceased leaves an infant son about five weeks old. She was the daughter of Dr. H. J. Ellis, formerly practicing at this place, and has been an earnest worker in the Congregational Sunday School here. Her many excellent qualities had endeared her to a large circle of acquaintances and friends. The grief stricken husband, and bereaved parents, brothers and sisters have the heart-felt sympathies of all who esteemed the deceased in life, and grieve ever her untimely death, while yet in the morning of her life.
-- Sun. Chicago Paper.

IN MEMORIAM.
The curtain hath fallen the scene hath closed;
With holy awe in the darkened room.
I looked on that dear face so white,
And felt all alone in the world that night,
With the shadows of death flitting round in the gloom.

Lone-sick and weary I turned me away,
Heedless that Heaven held the prize apart,
Forgetful of aught but the silent clay,
That there in the coffin before me lay,
And the wild, wild grief of a broken heart.

And never again will the spring time breeze
Fall on that brow as in days agone,
And never again o'er dewy leaves
'Neath the clustering shade of the old oaken trees
We'll lingering list to the south winds sigh.

Like the sad refrain from some sweet loved song,
A life long remembrance clings to me,
Of brief, bright moments, whose memories throng.
With that "tender grace" that to these belong,
And all that I hold of the past and thee.

My heart cries out with a death-knell ring,
For the voice that is stilled and the "vanished hand:"
But, beyond the glow of the evening star,
Thy home is found where the angels are,
And we'll meet again in the spirit-land.
