Patrick Winters

Obituary

DIED: -- Patrick Winters, Monday, June 30 at 1:10 a. m. at the age of 80 years. Deceased was born in Ireland, in 1804 and was the son of Patrick and Mary Winters. At the age of 25 years he married Miss Catherine Callihan with whom he lived to the time of his death. In a short time after his marriage he moved with his young wife to England where he remained five years. From England he removed to Montreal, Canada. Leaving there he went to Vermont where he remained until 1853 when he moved to Adrian, Mich., and three years afterwards he came to Chesterton. Staying here only one year he went to Pine township where he lived eleven years when he moved back to Chesterton on the farm where he lived until his death. Winters leaves a wife and four children; one boy and three girls, to mourn his loss. His funeral was held to-day at 10 o'clock in St. Patrick's Church, and his remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetary of this place. Winters has been sick since last January, and on the account of his extreme old age, he was in a very helpless condition. His sufferings were very acute near his dying hour, but at the close all was calm -- death came and sealed his book of life, to be opened when time shall be no more. Deceased, like the rest of the poor mortals of earth, took the world as he found it, remained his four-score years and passed away. May he rest in Peace.
