DAVID J. WILE IS DEAD.
Laporte Attorney, Shot by a Woman, Dies of Blood Poison.

Davis J. Wile, the attorney who was shot in Chicago a few weeks ago by Mabel Burke, who shot and killed herself at the same time, died last Thursday night of blood poisoning.

It will be remembered that Wile accompanied Miss Burke to a hotel on Wabash avenue, near Twenty-seventh street. Wile, although married, had been keeping company with Miss Burke for nearly two years, she believing him single. When she discovered that he had a wife and child she lured him to the hotel on Wabash avenue, where the tragedy took place.

Wile was shot twice, but it was thought he would recover. One bullet in the heart ended Miss Burke's life. Wile was about 42 years old, and was prominent in his profession. He was a native of Laporte and well known here. He ranked as one of the leading attorneys at the Laporte bar while residing in that county.

Wile recently underwent a surgical operation for the removal of the bullet in his head, and death resulted from blood poisoning following the operation. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, with burial in Chicago.
