Laura Ellen Whitmore

OBITUARY.

August 13, in Valparaiso, Indiana, Laura Ellen, wife of Mr. Joseph M. Whitmore, aged 23.

She united with the M. E. Church, in the commencement of the year, in our protracted meeting; a worthy member of which she continued until called to her reward. She was a kind and affectionate companion, and after a painful and protracted illness, this she endured with great patience, and christian fidelity. Her end was peace.

"A path that must be trod
If woman would ever pass to God."
"Calm , on the bosom of thy God
Fair spirit, rest thee now:
E'en whilst with us thy footsteps trod
His seal was on thy brow.
Dust to its narrow cell beneath:
Soul, to its place on high:
They who have seen thy look in death
No more need fear to die.

D. CRAWFORD.
