Alvah Wells

A dispatch came here yesterday directed to the family of John Wells, that his son Alvah, working on a farm on Horse Prairie, had that morning been thrown off from a colt that he was riding, and was killed. The word was sent out to a younger brother at Flint Lake, and to the father working on the railway track, and in the afternoon the family got started to the grandfather's, Mr. Joseph Folz's, we believe, near where the accident occurred, and where the dead son would be taken for his funeral. We hear that Alvah walked home from his place of working sometimes lately, and last Sunday told his folks that he was going soon to break a colt to ride and after that he would not have to walk so far. He was probably breaking that colt when he lost his life. His father, John Wells, lives north of the Fort Wayne depot in this city, and is cousin of the recorder.
