Sarah Washburn

Miss Sarah Washburn was born in Hadley, Mass., Aug. 19, 1801, moved to Exeter, Otsego co., N. Y., at the age of 4 years with her parents, where on March 15th, 1819 she married to Ralph P. Williams. They then moved to Canada and lived together till he died in 1861. With him she raised 9 children. Five are living -- 3 daughter and 2 sons. After her husband's death she moved to Valparaiso and lived with her children -- the last 2 years with her daughter Mrs. Healthy Currier and her husband, until God called, and his call was on Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock Nov. 28, 1883. She was 82 years, 3 months and 9 days old. She was a member of the Christian church and died in full faith of a home in heaven. The funeral was conducted by Elder E. S. Riley, the Baptist minister, on Friday the 30th of November at 11 a. m. at Salem church. None knew her but to love; none spoke of her but to praise.
