Christian Summers

Christian Summers, senior, and his son of the same name, of Union township, were in town Saturday, and toward evening went home, the old gentleman getting out of the sled at his son's house, and starting to walk across a field to his own home, a distance of about a quarter of a mile. His wife saw him start, and after waiting sufficient time for him to reach the house and he not appearing she looked again and saw him lying in the snow about 10 rods away. She hastened to where he was and found him dead. The son was informed of his father's fate, when he and others came and took the body in the house. A coroner's jury subsequently held revealed the fact that the deceased died of congestion of the lungs. One lung was found to be unnaturally large and the other very small and grown fast to its surroundings. The funeral services took place Tuesday and were conducted by John Harnish, a Mennonite preacher of Osborne, O.
