Frankie Stoner

IN MEMORIAM.
FRANKIE STONER -- Little Frankie, son of Samuel and Lucinda Stoner, departed this life Jan. 16th, 1883. Aged 5 years, 11 months and 9 days.

Little Frankie wrestled for 17 days with bilious fever, but was finally overcome. During all his sickness he exercised that patience rarely found in a child, never complaining or refusing to take the most unpalatable medicines. The funeral services, at the Christian church on Morgan Prairie, conducted by the writer, were largely attended by friends and neighbors.

The distant sun had sunk to rest,
Among the storm-clouds in the west,
The cold, bleak winds that hurried by,
Rose on their wings the mournful cry,
"Where is my boy" the father said
"To-night" -- now cold and dead.
That little form, once so full of life,
Is now released from a world of strife.
Death! With keen sickle came
And took from this fold this precious lamb.
But little Frankie is now enrolled
Among the lambs of the upper fold.
Let us not weep for Frankie dear,
We could not longer keep him here.
From this world of pain and woe,
His Savior called and he must go.
His body now rests in the silent grave,
Above which the long grasses wave.
The moaning winds among the tombs,
Bids him rest till Jesus comes.
Little Frankie is an angel now,
A sparkling crown is on his brow.
In all the songs the angels sing,
His little voice is made to ring.
Weeping friends, look beyond this world of sin;
And strive, where Frankie is, to enter in.
Suffer little children to come, Jesus said,
For of such is my kingdom made.
Safe, safe at home in heaven above,
Where all is joy and peace and love.
