Tom Stephenson

TALK OF THE TOWN.
Tom Stephenson, a Lake Shore engineer running Nos. 21 and 22, passenger trains between Elkhart and Toledo met with an accident that resulted in his death last Thursday. He had been in Chicago and bought a Flobert gun, and on the day in question was trying it. He shot a sparrow, and went to cross a fence in his back yard. In doing so the gun discharged, and the ball entered his body just below his heart, severing a main artery. He walked into the house, told his wife he was shot, set the gun down, and laid down. Inside of five minutes he was dead. His home was at Elkhart. His life was insured for $7,000, and he leaves a wife and six children.
