Bessie Smith
Waukegan (Ill.) Gazette: "On Monday last little Bessie Smith died at the residence of Mrs. M. J. Brown, in this city. She was a bright little girl and the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Smith, who were spending the summer months in this city. Her sickness was of about a fortnight's duration, and was pronounced by the attending physician cerebral meningitis. The remains were taken to Valparaiso for interment."
