Richard H. Small

R. W. Small, one of the well known farmers of the Wheeler community and a brother of J. E. Small, of this city, died at his home north of Wheeler last night after a long period of illness. Hopes for his recovery were abandoned several days ago, and the report reached this city yesterday that he could not live the day through.

Mr. Small was 61 years of age. He spent nearly all his life in Union township and the community just over the line in Portage, where he owned a fine farm. He was a man of high morals and this won him numerous friends all over the county. He was well and favorably known in this city, where he came often. He leaves an aged mother, who still resides on the old homestead at Smalls Crossing. She will arrive at her 86th birthday next Sunday. He leaves, besides, his wife and the following children: George, John, Harry, Isaac, Ray and Grace.

The surviving brothers and sister are: Simon Small, of Englewood; J. E. Small, of this city; Isaac Small, of Smalls Crossing; Mrs. Hary Baker of Houston, Tex.; Mrs. Kate Wood, or Lowell; Mrs. Indiana Fuller, of Chicago Heights, and Mrs. Lizzie Crisman, of Deepriver.
