Craig Sawyer

DIED.
SAWYER. -- June 29th, 1881, at his father's residence, Craig, son of C. D. Sawyer, of consumption. Age, 20 years.

IN MEMORIAM.
Dear father, I tremble to think
I must leave you so;
'Tis lonely and cheerless for you,
Thinking I must go, --
That in the damp grave I must lie.
Could you but go with me
Through the gloom of Death's shadowy land,
My guide you would be.
But what is the music that falls
Gently upon my ear,
Enchanting my senses obscure,
Dispelling my fears?
My mother will be with me here
I am not alone
The angels are guiding me to
My dear mother's home.
Behind I must leave, too, those playmates
I love and adore;
Remembering I await their coming
On that beautiful shore.
Only a little ways further
Jesus beckons me,
So farewell to all, I must go,
His call obey.
