Mrs. Max Rohoeder

DIED.
On Saturday morning, April 9th, of erysipelas, after an illness of two days, Mrs. Max Rohoeder, late Mrs. Andrew Ludolph, aged 52 years, 11 months and 26 days.

She was born in Germany April 4th, 1828, and immigrated to this country in 1853, being married a short time after her arrival, to Andrew Rudolph, in Chicago, on Nov. 1 of the same year. Immediately following the marriage they came to Porter county, where she has, with the exception of nearly four years' residence in Chicago, lived ever since, her husband having died just twelve years previous to her own death. She was, therefore, a resident of Valparaiso 24 years, and consequently was one of the pioneers of the county. The Fort Wayne railroad and the present court house are among the institutions established here during her residence in the village (and subsequently the city of Valparaiso.) She became a member of the German Methodist church in 1869, and faithfully fulfilled her duties as such until she died. She leaves a husband -- to whom she has been married for years -- five children, three of the latter being full-grown and the remaining two aged 18 and 14 years respectively. She was a good wife and a kind and loving mother, and her death entails a serious loss and affliction upon the bereaved husband and children, as well as a cloud upon her church.
