Killed!
[Tuesday's Daily]
This morning the news was circulated about the streets that a man had been killed on the Nickel Plate railroad. A Vidette reporter in searching for the facts gleaned the following:

Last night at Wheeler as a freight on the Nickel Plate was backing up; it ran over a man who must have been standing on the track. Coroner Letherman was summoned to the place and held an inquest. There was nothing about the man's person by which he could be identified. He must have been a laboring man, as he carried a dinner-bucket containing the remnants of a supper. Two cents in money and a couple of shirts wrapped in a paper was all else that could be found.

The coroner returned to town this morning and placed the case in the hands of Trustee Parks, who in company with Undertaker Noel went after the body. The undertaker will hold the body at his place as long as possible for identification.
