Rachel Darst Reed

The County.
HEBRON.
Died on the 4th instant at the residence of J. N. Buchanan, Rachel Darst Reed. She was born in Ohio, August 22, 1810, was married at the age of 18 to John Reed, with whom she lived happily until his death about 16 years ago, leaving her homeless and without a child to comfort her except the children of her adoption, her only child, a daughter having died over 40 years ago. She joined the M. E. church 45 years ago at Cedar Lake under the ministry of Father Forbes, and has maintained the character faithfully ever since. Her funeral took place at the residence of Rev. J. N. Buchanan, where she has made her home since the death of her husband -- Mrs. Buchanan being one of her adopted daughters. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Stright, her pastor.
