George P. Porter

From the DAILY VIDETTE, Wednesday, Dec. 5th, inst.
Mr. Geo. P. Porter, of Pine township, died last Monday at the poor house of which for some months he had been an inmate, and was buried Tuesday. On investigation during his last sickness and after his decease he was found to have possessed $60.34 cash. Of this $14.29 was expended on his funeral and $45.55 deposited in the bank to credit of the keeper of the poor-house. In his pocket was also found the following document: "Porter county, 1861. -- I do will and bequeath all of my property real and personal to my wife Harriet Porter, after my death to be used as she may think best according to her will and pleasure, after paying all debts. George P. Porter.
Lewis Payne. Joseph Chaney." If this will had been made perfect at the time it probably would be of no effect now, as his wife died years ago.
