Porter D. Pomeroy

DIED.
POMEROY. -- In this city on May 7th, Porter D. Pomeroy, of Pulmonary consumption, aged 42 years.

The subject of this notice was born in Erie, Penn., removed to this place in 1859, and has resided here ever since with the exception of a residence of some two or three years in Plymouth. He was at one time part proprietor of the VIDETTE and has of late years worked as a journeyman compositor between the offices of the VIDETTE and Messenger. The last eight or ten months previous to his demise he was employed by Mr. Perrine, on Normal Hill. On the 29th of November, 1867, he was married to Mary M. Johnson, who, with two children, remain to mourn his loss. He had a long struggle against the disease which finally carried him away. Dying penitently, with trust in the Saviour, and expressing sorrow for all the errors of this life, there is reason to believe that after many a conflict his soul has gone where there is eternal peace.

Under the auspices of the typographical and publishing fraternity, most of whose members were his former associates, after suitable ceremony at the M. E. church and at the grave, conducted by Revs. Brakeman and Beer, his remains were deposited in the old cemetery. May they rest in peace.
