Eli Pennock

Hebron Items.
Died, on the 8th inst., at his residence in Hebron, Eli Pennock, of lung fever. His funeral took place from the M. E. church, Rev. G. I. Vaught preached the funeral sermon. Mr. Pennock would have been 70 years old if he had lived to the day his funeral took place. He had been an acceptable member of the M. E. church for 30 years. He was an exhorter in the church for the last 15 or 20 years. He was strongly attached to the church of his choice. The ministers always found a warm friend in Mr. Pennock. We have often found him to go 15 or 20 miles to attend quarterly meetings, and whenever opportunity was offered he would stand as a witness for the cause he had espoused. Mr. Pennock was generally known throughout Porter and Lake counties, and had a large circle of friends, especially among the brethren of the M. E. Church. His health has been quite poor for several years, but he was able to be around most of time until a few days before his death. He was taken with lung fever and only lasted a few days. He was a good citizen and his loss will be felt in the community.
