Ella Newland

LOCAL.
The death of Miss Ella Newland, which occurred last Sabbath morning, cast a gloom over the entire city. The many estimable traits in her character won the love of all with whom she came in contact, and as she has passed nearly all the years of her life in Valparaiso, her circle of acquaintance here was unlimited. For months her anxious friends have watched with sadness the gradual decline of Ella's health, but were powerless to stay the progress of that dreaded disease, consumption. During her long illness she never uttered a complaining word, always greeting nurses and visitors with the same unvarying kindness, thus retaining her amiable and loving disposition through sickness and pain to the last moment. The funeral service, with a very large attendance, took place from the M. E. church Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, and was conducted by Rev. J. H. Claypool, of Michigan City.
