Louis Merriman

Death of Louis Merriman.
Valparaiso Vidette.

At Boon grove yesterday Lewis Merriman, while taking a gun from behind the bed in his room was accidently shot. His wife was in the kitchen working at the time and on hearing the gun discharged went to the room immediately and found her husband with the muzzle of the gun in his hand. The ball had struck his forehead and penetrated his brain, he died almost instantly. Mr. Merriman had been sick and the supposition at the start was that he migh have shot himself intentionally. But the facts are against this supposition as the Doctor who was attending him was hopeful of his recovery, and Mr. Merriman was quite encouraged himself, and he had not been despondent. The Coroner was called last night. The funeral will take place to day at 3 p. m. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
