THE DOINGS OF DEATH.
Wednesday, March 25th the remains of Dan McCauley were brought to Chesterton and the funeral service conducted at St. Patrick's Church by Father Kroll. The corpse was met at the door by the Rev. Father, and conducted to the altar where it was placed outside the railing. Requiem high mass having been sung, the solemn benediction was pronounced and an eloquent discourse delivered on the 8th chap., 3d verse, of St. Mark. The speaker showed how man, when first seeking the justice of God's Kingdom, will be just to every other duty he is called upon to perform in this life. How the deceased endeavored to seek God and the justice of God's Kingdom, and therefore was true to every other duty, as father, spouse and citizen, and was not allowed to go home fasting, but fortified by every rite and consolation of religion. Mr. Dan McCauley lived eight years in this community, but spent the last fifteen years in Chicago. He was a convert to the Catholic faith and a faithful member of St. Pius church at Chicago. He had been ailing for some time, and in his last, ad in his last illness often found Father O'Sullivan, the curate of St. Pius church, at his bedside, administering the sacraments and imparting true christian consolation. Six children have gone before him and he leaves a devoted wife and six children after him, the youngest being nine years old. He was 51 years and 9 months old on last Sunday when he breathed his last. The afflicted family and friends have the heartfelt sympathy of THE TRIBUNE.
