Lincoln Massey

In Memoriam.
Died, at his mother's residence, in Jackson Center, on Friday morning, Jan. 2, 1885, Lincoln Massey, aged 24 years, 9 mo. and 28 da.

A widowed mother, a large family of brothers and sisters, a betrothed and many other near and dear friends mourn his untimely death. Lincoln was an affectionate and dutiful son, a gentle and loving brother, upright and honest in all his dealings, generous almost to a fault. Being a genial and happy disposition he won many friends wherever he went. His sickness had been of quite a long duration.

For a year we could see with aching hearts that Link was slowly but surely passing away from us. He bore his sickness patiently, but with a great desire to get well once more. But "The silver cord was loosed, and the golden bowl was broken;" for the Master called and he had to obey. And when the glad new year beamed brightly o'er all the earth, while kind friends and weeping relatives stood around his bedside he closed his wearied eyelids on mortality and unseen angels wafted his spirit back to Him who gave it. It seems hard to us to give Link up; to see him laid away to rest where we may never again hehold his dear form, yet we must bow to the will of Him "Who came into the world to seek and to save that which was lost."

A band or ten brothers and sisters dear
We have remained for twenty year.
Unbroken has been our family band
By death's relentless, cruel hand.

But now, alas! the golden chain
Is broken, and we'll ne'er again
On this side of the golden shore
Meet the dear one gone before.

Fast flows the bitter, scorching tear,
But, knowing we shall meet up there,
In that bright land where angels dwell,
We bid dear Link a last farewell.
