VALPO PEOPLE HOME FROM FUNERAL IN IOWA
(From Friday's Daily)

W. D. Marquardt and son, Herman, arrived home today at noon from Strawberry Point, Ia., where they went to attend the funeral of the formers uncle, Herman Marquardt, a former resident of this county. Mr. Marquardt came here before the war, and served in the Union army. Since 1866 he had lived at Strawberry Point. The deceased leaves four children, as follows: Mrs. Emma Schug, Mrs. Anna Cook, Mrs. Mary Hopp and Martin Marquardt.

The Valparaiso men encountered severe cold weather in the west, the thermometer reaching 35 below zero, making ice 28 inches thick.
