Frederick Loetzerick

BOY WITH BROKEN NECK DIED TODAY
Death Comes to Frederick Loetzerick, a Student, as Result of Accident at Flint Lake Recently.
WILL TAKE BODY HOME

Frederick Loetzerick, 20 years old, of Evansville, Ind., for two years a student at the unversity, died this morning in the Christian hospital with a broken neck, sustained Sunday, June 28th, at Sheridan Beach, when he dived in shallow water and struck his head on the sand. The body will be taken home tonight by his mother, Mrs. Albert Doeschler, and his uncle, Fred H. Brenneche. Mrs. Boeschler arrived here soon after the accident. Mr. Brenneche reached here yesterday morning.

Mr. Loetzerick was a good student. He had many friendly associations with the student body, as well as with the young people of the city. He had set out in life to shape himself for the vocation of a mechanical engineer and was making good headway. In Evansville he was popular, and he leaves many close friends there. His father is dead, and Fred was the only child. His uncle, Mr. Brenneche, was for 26 years on the police force of Evansville, and prior to his retirement a few years ago, was chief. He is now manager of a seven story office building.

"After I arrived here yesterday morning," Mr. Brenneche stated today, "Fred seemed so much better that we engaged reservations for his removal home, in spite of the fact that he had seemed very low the evening previous. But the decline returned, and life passed out this morning."

An operation had been performed here in an effort to save the young man, after it was ascertained by X-ray examination that three cartilages in his neck were broken. The damage by the impact of his body with the botom of the lake was so great, however, that Mr. Loetzerich would never have been normal again, even though his life had been saved.

By tomorrow Mrs. Doeschler and Mr. Brenneche expect to reach Evansville.
