Henrietta Lapell

DIED.
In Valparaiso, April 9th, 1881, Mrs. Henrietta Lapell, in the 81st year of her age. She was born in Prussia, Oct. 12th, 1800. She came to America in 1852, and soon after settled in Valparaiso. She was born and raised in the Lutheran church, but before her death had requested that her funeral be held in the Methodist church. Her request was complied with. Her funeral sermon was preached last Sunday, at 3 p. m., by Rev. Nicholas Eiffler, of the German M. E. church, assisted by Rev. N. L. Brakeman. The text was from Job, XIV, 10th verse: "But man dieth, and wasteth away; yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?" Most of our older citizens were well acquainted with Mrs. Lapell, and the large number of Americans present at the funeral evinced the respect and esteem in which she was held.
