Jefferson Kilburn

LOCAL.
Jefferson Kilburn was yesterday working for his father-in-law, J. Bothwell, on the old Gardner farm, in Essex Township, southeast of here, and drove home at about six o'clock at night. Before alighting he took up his gun from the bottom of the wagon by the muzzle and drew it forward, when it was accidently discharged, and its contents went through his bowels and lodged in his back, which caused his death this morning at 4 o'clock.

A telegram was sent last night from Koutts to Crown Point for a doctor, but as he failed to come upon the midnight train, Dr. McCarthy was sent for, and went out as quick as possible, but reached there two hours after the man was dead. He was about 23 years old, and left a wife and two children.

Mr. Kilburn's home is 3 miles nearly east of Crown Point.
