Matthew Kevin

Matthew Kevin Dead.
EDITOR VIDETTE: -- Matthew Kevin, the man shot last evening is now a corpse. Those who Monday morning expressed themselves so inconsiderately jubliant about the shooting might upon the same ground now be still more jubliant about its fatal termination. However, let them now divest themselves of prejudice in the case and they may see the matter in a different light. Let them go now to that house of sorrow, where beside the dead man stands his weeping wife with 3 small children, gazing in a half dazed manner on the livid face before them. She is left to battle with the selfish world as best she can alone for the support of that dear family. Humanity should prompt us now to sympathesize with those so suddenly distressed and lend a helping hand for their relief, and show that any rash expressions made by any of us were not vicious but results of some misinformation. Furthermore, whatever provocation, or necessity in self-defense, may have existed for this shooting ought not to be taken on mere hearsay as sufficient, but established in a legal trial.
