Jane Janes

OBITUARY.
Died, at her residence, Oct. 20th, 1856, sister Jane Janes, wife of Elijah Janes, or Porter County Indiana.

She was a native of Yorkshire, England. She emigrated with her first husband -- Jos. Thompson, of Kuavcsboro, England -- to the province of Canada West in 1835, where, in about two years after their arrival, sister Thompson was left a widow, in a strange land. In the year 1840 she was united in marriage to Elijah Jones, of Canada West. Soon after, with her husband and family, she came to Union Township, Porter Co., Ind., where she resided till her death. Being at work in usual health, about 4 o'clock P. M., she was taken suddenly ill, could speak but little so as to be understood and died in about 7 hours from the time she was taken, aged 48 years and 6 months. She was a member of the Wesleyan Methodists in England; but after her arrival in Indiana she joined the Methodist E. church, in which she remained a faithful and devoted member till her death. Her house was a welcome house for the weary itinerant. Her end was sudden, yet her life was such as to give the fullest assurance of her felicity in Heaven.
