Emeline James

Death of Mrs. Dorr.

It is the province of the VIDETTE again to note the passing away of a loved and respected citizen. Mrs. Dorr's maiden name was Emeline James. She was born at Middlebury, Vermont, in 1813, but passed her younger days in Canada. In 1834 she came to Indiana, and in 1837 married Russell Dorr. Her husband died March 8th 1879, she surviving him just eight months. She was taken ill on the 1st of this month with pneumonia, and realized from the first that she could not recover. Dissolution came on the evening of the 6th. The funeral service took place on the 8th and was conducted by Donald Ross, and evangelist from Chicago. Thus one by one the older people are quietly passing away, and while the world rushes busily along past their graves, may they sleep in peace.
