Augustine Humphrey

Hebron Items.
Augustine Humphrey died a few days ago at the residence of his brother-in-law at Ross Station, and two of his nephews and two other boys brought him to Salem cemetery north of Hickory Point and two or three of his old neighbors dug the grave and buried what they supposed to be his body. They did not open the coffin. The report first was that he was left all night in the graveyard in his coffin and box, but that was not so; he was only left in the graveyard from noon till night, while they were digging the grave. Mr. Humphrey was among the early settlers of Windfield township. His family of four sons and his wife all preceded him to the grave.
