Thomas Hatton

DIED.
HATTON. -- On Jan. 21, 1878, at his residence near Attica, Ind., Thomas Hatton, nephew of Mrs. Sarah Malone, of this city, aged 54 years, 1 mo., and 21 days.

OBITUARY.
Thomas Hatton was born in Ross county, O., Nov. 30, 1823. His parents came to Fountain county, Ind., in the fall of 1825, and settled on the farm where he lived until his death. During his sickness, he was calm and realized his condition until within a few moments of his departure to that land of promise, believing that "the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and His ears are open to their cry." Mr. Hatton united with the church in 1840, was married in 1847 to Miss Julia Swank, and renewed his convenant with the church in 1854 at a revival conducted by Elder Gregory. Many are the friends and relatives left to testify of the pleasant welcomes to his home. Whatever may have been his mistakes in life, he always tried to make all wrongs right with his fellow men, and went to God for forgiveness who only knows truly how to forgive. Believing that the time would come when man's work would cease, and realizing, as all men must, that the day was drawing near when he would be called to give an account of his stewardship, he endeavored, both by word and act, to improve his time in the field to which he had been called to labor, knowing that they who did not sow could not reap the golden harvest of life, at the right hand of God.

"Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have a right to the tree of life, and enter in through the gates of the city."
-- A. C. H. in Attica Ledger.
