Suey A. Harger

OBITUARY.
Suey A. Harger was born in Hamilton county, Ind., Nov. 10, 1841, in which place she resided with her parents until womanhood when she removed to the home of her sister in Porter county, Ind. Here she became acquainted with, and on the 2nd of October, 1864, gave her hand in marriage to Enoch H. Goss, and for a period of over 17 years, until her death, she has shared with him his joys and sorrows. At the early age of 14 years she became anxious about her soul's welfare; but with incompetent spiritual advice, she labored hard and long for salvation, but one evening alone in her fathers dooryard she trusted Jesus as her personal savior, and found peace in him. Since which time she seems never to have donated her acceptance with him and her whole life has been a high example of patience and unwavering trust in the Master. Over four years ago her weak frame was stricken with disease from which she never recovered, and during all these long years she has suffered more than mortal tongue can describe. Just one week before she died, she requested some Christians present to sing and pray. They complied, and she enjoyed the exercises very much, herself leading the song. Even in the face of death she expressed her readiness to depart. Yesterday morning, July 30th, at 4 o'clock and fifty minutes, she gently "fell asleep in Jesus," aged 40 years, 8 months and 20 days. She leaves behind a husband, four brothers and five sisters to rejoice that after untold pain she is at rest.

Her funeral took place at the Flint Lake M. E. church, of which sext she was a member, July 31st, at 10 o'clock a. m., Elder Riley officiating, after which her emaciated form was interred in the Flint Lake cemetery.
