Mercy Hanson

Resolutions of Condolence.

HALL OF CENTER GRANGE, No. 8, June 25, 1874.

Your committee to whom was referred the drafting of obituary resolutions of respect on the death of Mercy Hanson, who died June 21, 1874, respectfully submit the following report:

WHEREAS, It has pleased the Grand Master of the universe, in His inscrutable wisdom, and to complete a link in the divine economy, the reasons of which are incomprehensible to finite beings, to remove from the harvest fields of earth to be garnered in Heaven, our beloved sister; therefore,

Resolved, That while we bow in sorrowful submission to the divine decree of Him who death all things well, and must as obedient and believing children say, Lord, thy will be done and not mine, we nevertheless cannot refrain from giving expression to our sorrow at having to part with one who was so universally beloved and had so long and so faithfully labored among us.

Resolved, That we tender our sympathies to her bereaved husband who has been compelled to part with the companion of his lifetime, and finish the journey of his life alone at a time when there is nothing left of earth that is dear to him, and none that can give him that comfort and consolation that could the companion of his youth.

Resolved, That, we admonish our bereaved brother to bear his afflictions with christian fortitude, remembering that the time is not far distant when he too will be fathered to his fathers and his spirit will return unto God who gave it.

Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be presented to the husband of the deceased.
