Leo Loraine Garis

DIED -- In this village, on Tuesday evening, Jan. 10, 1854, LEO LORAINE, infant son of J. and A. M. Garis, aged 1 year, 10 months and 18 days.

My dear little sufferer is gone
Where he will sorrow and suffer no more;
And although we are left here to mourn,
We rejoice that his trails are o'er.

His time her was transient, though bright,
For joy with him seemed to grow;
His spirit so buoyant and light,
His life was all happy below.

Until, seized by the monstor disease,
He was racked in torture and pain;
But death has my Leo released,
And helped him to immortal gain.

O! grief! So frantic and wild,
Leave me, O! leave me alone,
For I surely must go to my child,
When this short journey is done.

A. M. GARIS.
