DEATH OF CARLO EVERTS. -- A gentleman direct from Lafayette brings the news of the death of Mr. Carlo Everts, late of this village, which occurred at that city on Monday. As many of our readers are aware he left here for the milder climate of Texas in hope thereby to recover from a fast attack of consumption. From what we had previously learned of his intention we suppose he had given up all hope of recovery and started home to die in the company of his friends, but was unable to get further than Lafayette. His friends, we judge, would have his remains brought to Laporte county for interment. Here is a striking exemplicification of the maxim that "Death loves a shining mark."
