Jane Dye

Mrs. Jane Dye.
In the same neighborhood where the family settled seventy-five years ago, Mrs. Jane Dye, 87 years old, one of the pioneers of the country around Boone Grove, passed away at the home of her son, Leander Dye, a short distance west of the village, last evening. Mrs. Dye had been active up to nearly her last day. Her sickness was of short duration, and her death came as a surprise and a shock to her many friends and relatives.

The funeral will be held at 1 o'clock tomorrow at the Leander Dye home, where Rev. H. Clay Brown, of the Boone Grove Christian church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Cornell cemetery.

Mrs. Dye was born in Ohio in 1829, and came to this county in 1840, settling only a mile from the place of her death. Her only other surviving child than Mr. Dye is Mrs. Amos Young, of Hebron. Melvin Foltz, of Hebron, and John Foltz, of Hale, Mo., are brothers of the deceased.

Otis Dye, the husband, died, in 1891. One son, Enoch Dye, passed away just twenty-five years, to the day, before his mother. His widow, Mrs. Hattie Dye, resides on South Washington street, in this city, and, with her daughter, Mrs. Jennie Dye Johnson, and Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Wallace, went to the scene of death this afternoon to remain for the funeral. Mrs. Wallace is a sister-in-law of the deceased.
