Francis Dye

OBITUARY.
DYE. -- Francis Dye was born four miles from Montreal, Canada, near the St. Lawrence reiver, May 13, 1787, and died in this city April 17, 1879, lacking at the time of his death less than a month of being 92 years old. He lived 65 years at the place of his birth, and emigrated to this county 27 years ago, living six years on a farm four miles west of here and 21 years in this city.

He was married in 1815, and his wife survives him, she being now 84 years old. Ten children were born to them, eight of whom are living. Six of the children, all daughters, reside in this city, and the other two, sons, live elsewhere.

Mr. Dye's death was perfectly painless, he having passed away at three o'clock in the morning without changing from the position in which he had gone to sleep a short time before. Funeral services took place on Saturday last.

So far as we can ascertain, deceased was the oldest man in the county.
