Zeruiah Chester

DIED,
In this village, on the 10th inst., Mrs. Zeruiah Chester, wife of Solomon Chester, aged 27 years.

The deceased was born in Pennsylvania, and at an early period in life emigrated to the west. For many years her home has been in this place, and here she leaves a large circle of friends by whom she was highly esteemed. Two years since she added to the graces that adorned her character, the graces of religion, united with the M. E. Church, and to the day of her death was a worthy, consistent member of the same. She exhibited to all around by her daily walk and conversation that she was a follower of the lovely Jesus.

A week before her death, her husband -- who was sick in the same room -- was thought to be dying. She did not think that her end was so near, and she wept bitterly at thought of being left in this dark world alone. But the Lord spared his life a little longer, and took her first to the skies. Her death-struggle was long and painful, but she told her weeping friends that the Lord was then with her.

A few moments before she breathed her last, she fixed her eyes on one who stood near, and said "come and see us after awhile." Soon her eyes closed in the long last sleep, and the sister, the wife, the mother -- was gone. She leaves behind a husband and four children to mourn their sad loss.
