Samuel Campbell

SAMUEL CAMPBELL.
The subject of this notice was born in Jefferson county, East Tennessee, November 14, 1797; died January 20th, 1884, aged 86 years, 2 months, 6 days.

From Jefferson county he removed to Knoxville, Tenn., and in the spring of 1818 came with his parents to Preble county, Ohio. On the 23d of September 1823 he was married to Elizabeth Frame, who now survives him. There were born as the fruit of this union eight children, 4 boys and 4 girls, of whom seven are now living. In January 1831 he removed with his family to Union county, Indiana, and thence to Porter county in 1836 when he settled upon Horse Prairie, and has continued to reside in this county until his death. On the 6th of December 1882 he met with a serious accident from the effects of which he was a constant sufferer until released by death, yet he was patient through all the weary months of his trial and was never heard to murmur or complain. He was man of the highest standing for integrity, a firm believer in the doctrines of the Christian religion and steadfastly confessed his faith in Jesus Christ. He had been a member of the Salem Presbyterian church in this county for many years. The funeral services were held in that church January 22d and were conducted by Rev. Robert Beer of Valparaiso, a large congregation being present.
