Carroll Hubert Bryant

DIED.
BRYANT. -- In this city, January 16, 1879, CARROLL HUBERT, infant son of W. A. and Allie L. Bryant, aged four months and fourteen days.

"O know, ye that cherub whose smile shone sae brightly,
And mildness o' innocence and aptly expressed?
It looked aye sae sweetly, and played aye sae lightly
What eye but adored it, what heart but caressed!
O pure little star o' the morning! Sae sweetly
Ye oped on the earth that soft heavenly ray;
O who would not weep, ye vanished sae fleetly!
Tho' fled in the rising effulgence of day.
Yet we will not weep -- tho' that gem looked sae gladly --
That thy day has risen, while ours is withdrawn;
And tho' oft to the place where it shone, we lood sadly
Yet we ask it not back to smile on the dawn."
