Lemuel Blake

Killed.
Lem Blake, son of Frank Blake, Esq., of Portage township, went out on last Thursday hunting. Night came without his return and becoming alarmed his folks and neighbors started out to search for him. At about 11 o'clock p. m. he was found in the woods lying on his back with hearly the entire top of his head shot-off. Pieces of his skull were thrown fifty feet and particles of brain were found frozen where they had been thrown on the trees fifteen feet distant. The shooting is supposed to have been accidental. The gun used was an old muzzle-loading army musket.
