ESTHER BAKER.
ACROSTIC.

Mid-summer with sunshine and rain
Ripens fully, the early sown grain!
Shall the garner be ready, in vain?

E - scaped, from her prison of clay
S - he, no longer, by searching is found
T - he bonds, that were solvent, gave way,
H - aving fallen, dissolved to the ground!
E - scaped! It was hers to attain
R - epose, from all sorrow and pain!

A. complete, and a hallowed rest!

B - eckoning angels, directed her guest,
A - s she sped, in celestial array,
K - issed by winds that swept earth-dust away!
E - ver free! Is the song that she sings --
R - adiant, sining, -- an angel with wings.

Sympathetically,
E. W. SKINNER,
Valparaiso, June 8, 1881.
