Ella W. Axe

Death of Mrs. Ella W. Axe.

Mrs. Ella W. Axe, daughter and only child of Mr. Wm. M. and Mrs. Eliza Harrison, was born in Valparaiso, Ind., on the 16th day of August, 1852. On the 13th of January, 1866, she was received as a member of the Presbyterian Church, in this place, on a profession of her faith in Christ, being among the first received into the church by the present pastor, Rev. R. Beer. After having been for many years connected with the Sunday school of the church as a scholar she became a valued teacher in the same, under the superintendency of Hon. H. A. Gillett, until relieved on account of family cares. On the 15th of September, 1875, she was united in marriage to Mr. Frank M. Axe, who, with two children, the fruit of their union, survives her. During the past winter she had repeated attacks of sickness, which greatly protrated her, so that her enfeebled system was not able to endure the severe test when her last sickness, spinal fever, came on. Her sufferings were very great until death came to release her, and she was bid to enter the world where sickness never comes. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 3d, 1881, in the 29th year of her age. Funeral services were held at her late residence on Thursday, the 5th inst., and the remains were interred in the new cemetery to await the ressurection unto life.
