Samuel I. Anthony

In Memory of Samuel I. Anthony.
At a meeting of the LaPorte Commandery No. 12, Knights Templar, held in their Asylum, at their stated conclave in March, the committee appointed to prepare resolutions of condolence on the death of Sir Knight Anthony I. Samuel, presented the following:

WHEREAS, The Supreme Commander of the Universe, in his all wise providence, hath been pleased to take from our ranks one dear to our hearts, our beloved Brother and Sir Knight Samuel I. Anthony, by removing him from our earthly asylum to that Grand Spiritual Asylum above "prepared for all the faithful followers of the Lamb;" Therefore, be it

Resolved, that while our hearts have been saddened in parting for a short season from our esteemed Brother, and valiant and magnaminous Knight; and while we tender to his afflicted companion, who, hand in hand with him, has so many years traveled the weary pilgrimage of life, and those dear to him by ties of nature in distant lands, our heart-felt sympathy, we do not mourn his departure from this world of trial and suffering, believing that he has been faithful to the Captain of his salvation, that he has been a true soldier of the cross, and bears the signet of the Lion on the tribe of Judah, that he has offered suitable gifts at the shrine of his departed Lord, and through His commendations our loss is his eternal gain, and that having laid aside his earthly armor he is clothed with a spiritual armor prepared for Christian Knights, and seated with Princes and Rulers, and permitted to partake of a libation not of death and sorrow, but of that wine which is drank forever new in the Father's Kingdom, in that "house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."

Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be presented to the widow of our departed Knight, spread upon the records of our Commandery, and furnished the press of Valparaiso for publication.
