Pvt. Charles Hill Reported Killed In Action Sept. 7

Pvt. Charles H. Hill, 29, who was reported missing in action since September 6 in France, has now been reported killed in action on September 7, according to a telegram received Tuesday from the war department by his wife, who resides at 602 Indiana avenue with their two children, Richard Wayne, 4, and Barbara Ellen, 8 months.

Pvt. Hill entered the service on March 2, this year, and took his basic training in Texas. He was home on July 12 while enroute to Fort George Meade, Md., before going overseas.

Besides his widow and two children, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hill, of Westville, and three brothers, one of whom is serving with the armed forces in England.

Pvt. Charles H. Hill, 29, husband of Mrs. Anna B. Hill, 602 Indiana avenue, reported missing in action since September 6, is now reported killed in action on September 7. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hill, of Westville, and beside his widow and parents leaves a son, Richard Wayne, 4, a daughter, Barbara Ellen, eight months, and three brothers, Corp. Omer Hill, with the 369th Bomb Squadron, 306th Bomb Group, in England; Owen Hill, at home, and Lester Hill, of LaPorte.

Rites Sunday For Chas. H. Hill, Killed In War

Memorial services will be held for Pvt. Charles H. Hill, 29, at 2:30 p. m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the First Methodist church in Westville, with Rev. Gaylord Howell officiating.

Pvt. Hill, who resided at 602 Indiana avenue, was killed in action in France on September 7. He entered the armed services on March 2, 1944.

Surviving are his widow, Anna Belle; one son, Richard, and one daughter, Barbara, of Valparaiso; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hill, of Westville; three brothers, Lester Hill, of LaPorte; Owen Hill, of Westville, and Corp. Omer Hill, serving with the armed forces in England, and his grandmother, Mrs. Nancy Hunnicutt, of Medaryville, Ind. One daughter, Judith Ann, preceded him in death.
