road, was killed Wednesday while on duty with the 9th Infantry division.
A graduate of Portage High school, Strange attended Indiana university before
enlisting in the Army in November, 1966. He had been in Vietnam since April.
He was engaged to Cathy St. Germain, of Portage, and they had planned to be
married when young Strange completed his tour of duty with the Army.
Rites Pending
Military services for Strange are pending.
The battle in which Strange reportedly was killed occurred shortly after dawn
Wednesday when a crack American Army combat team stormed ashore from river
gunboats flushing 500 hard-core guerrillas in the muddy Mekong delta.
Strnage was a soldier in the U. S. 9th Infantry Division that disembarked from
gunboats and pushed up the Rach Ba river.
