The Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society's index of Pine Township burials
indicates that the body of a woman between the ages of 18 and 22 was once found
along the shore of Lake Michigan. The woman was buried near where she was found
in Pine Township -- close to the Pine Township and Westchester Township boundary
line.
A tombstone was reportedly found on the shore of Lake Michigan, which was buried
on the shore where it was found. The tombstone included the following
information:
KASTER, Mary
Wife of J. Kaster
Birth: June 27, 1826
Death: December 20, 1893
