Began in employ of Western News Co. until 18 years of age; In stationery and news business, 1882-6; later In newspaper work and for a time advertising mgr. Minneapolis Tribune; business mgr. Chicago Record-Herald, 1898-1907: since 1907 resident pres. Pierce Publishing Co. Del. To Rep. Nat. Convention, Minneapolis, 1892. Presbyterian.
