LAKE AND JASPER COUNTIES.

HON. A. F. KNOTTS, of Hammond, Indiana, is a lawyer and a Republican, born in Highland county, Ohio, the son of Frank D. Knotts, a farmer and native of Pennsylvania, and Margaret Bell Knotts of Highland county, Ohio. In addition to his common school education, he completed several courses in the Northern Indiana Normal School at Valparaiso. He was married in 1885 to Mary Hennesy. Before his election to the Legislature, Mr. Knotts had served as county surveyor of Porter county.
